Maar al zijn macht is in zijn liefde tot den Volstrekten, hij helpt alleen waar hij die liefde meedeelt.

De kiem deezer liefde is oprechtheid onverbiddelijk,
wie de waarheid liefheeft bemint God immers reeds?

Wie zondigt in oprechtheid, voor hem is vergeeving,
ja, wie Satan liefhad in oprechtheid, zijn eind zou bij God zijn.

Wie zijn waarachtigen aard deemoediglijk volgen durft,

hij zal terechtkoomen, maar wie booven zijn macht grijpt valt in duivels hand.

De wijze erkent zijn zwakheeden en kinderlijke begeerten, hij zal niet trachten te leeven als een volmaakte,

Hij ooverspant zich niet tot onnatuurlijke heiligheid.
Hij zegt neederig: "ach! ware ik beeter, maar zóó ben ik".

Alleen door liefde tot waarheid wil hij beeter worden,
zoo wordt eens het heilige leeven hem natuur.

Hij zal durven doen wat alle waereld zonde heet,
zeggend: "ik weet niet beeter, God straffe mij dan zoo ik dwaal".

Om God noch mensch zal hij zijn weezen verkrachten,
weetend dat niemand met vóórwending gediend is.

De echtheid van zijn gevoel herproeft hij vóór alles.
Zelf-bedrog vreest hij als de eigenlijke hel.

Waren niet gansche menschgeslachten in de macht der loogen? Maar in elken enkeling wordt de waarheid herbooren.

Zoo zal hij zijn innerlijk weezen zuiver houden,
als nieuwe leevens-bron en schatkamer der waarheid.

Er zijn er die vragen: Waar is God? Hoe zal ik Hem kennen? En kan men zichzelf deeze liefde gebieden?

Maar woorden kunnen niets brengen waar niets is.
Een lamp der erkentenis zijn ze in verborgen schatkelders.

Neemt mijn lamp en doorzoekt uw binnenste,
Gij zult er schoone liefde vinden voor God,

liefde voor de waarheid, voor het waarachtige,
verlangen naar vreede en geluk, en naar kennis van het zijnde.

Elk onzen vader kennen wij door gelaat en stem,
aldus kennen wij God door waarheid en vreugde.

Van het licht zeggen wij: het is, maar de duisternis is niet, zoo is de heilige vreugde werkelijk, maar de somberheid is niet.

En zooals de mensch meer leevend en persoonlijk is dan zand, zoo is God meer leevend en persoonlijk dan de mensch.

Ja, Hij is het eenigst waarachtige leeven en de eenigste persoon, Hij is de Ziel aller zielen, het volstrekte leeven.
