xxvi. 69–74. Mandricardo challenges the Christians for Marfisa. Rodomonte looks on as Viviano and Malagigi are unhorsed by Mandricardo.

XXVI. 75–9. Mandricardo defeats Ricciardetto and Aldigiero and claims Marfisa. She refutes him and puts on armour.

xxvI. 80–88. Rodomonte interrupts combat between Mandricardo and Marfisa. Ruggiero returns.

x xVI. 92–112. Ruggiero challenges Rodomonte, who at first refuses combat; Mandricardo challenges Ruggiero. Rodomonte challenges Mandricardo. Marfisa tries to interrupt the triple combat.

xxvi.115 –17. Rodomonte and Mandricardo both attack Ruggiero. He drops his sword, Balisarda, and loses his balance.

xxvi. 118–19. Ruggiero’s horse bolts; Rodomonte, pursuing, is blocked by Viviano and Ricciardetto; Viviano gives Ruggiero another sword; Marfisa attacks Mandricardo.

xxvi. 120–127. Rodomonte, struck by Ruggiero, dangles from his saddle. Marfisa’s charger slips; Ruggiero goes to her rescue. Rodomonte recovers his balance and rides against Ricciardetto.

XXVI. 128–37. Malagigi bewitches Doralice’s palfrey. She gallops off, followed by Rodomonte and Mandricardo. Marfisa pursues them. Ruggiero bids farewell. Only Aldigiero remains.
